Pictures from Red River, New Mexico region

Day One:

After driving a very rough road up to Goose Lake, we hike up to the peak of Gold Hill.  It was a lot of hard work but the view was spectacular!

After our trip to Goose Lake, we took the Bronco up to Greeney Peak (Casey drove the rough road) and then went over to Cabresto Lake near Questa.

Day Two:

La Punta hike:  We hiked down to the point where the Red River merges with the Rio Grande River.  We elected to traverse the steep ledged switchbacks to the bottom.  It should be noted that Dick and Nyx kicked rear with their speedy ascent out of the canyon.

Day Three:

From the Taos Ski Valley, we hiked to Williams Lake and then took the suicide trail toward Wheeler Peak.  Jennifer fell and twisted her ankle while on Walter mountain.  Casey feeds the birds from his hand at lunch!

Day Four:

Hiking the Columbine Trail to Placer Fork.  Once we turned on to Placer Fork the trail crossed the creek several times which required us to walk (and crawl) across rocks and logs.  Some got their feet wet and others didn't!

Day Five:

The trip to Carabel mine was an adventure on the pioneer road in a jeep.  We were searching for a trail to lead you to Gold Hill.  We stopped and panned for gold along the way.

We spent some time around town while we weren't hiking.  Here we are:

At the cabin

Watching the deer eat corn from a nearby resident of Red River

Horseback Riding

We had an absolutely wonderful trip with the Mitchells!  We can't wait to return to the Enchanted Circle area of northern New Mexico.
